Furama

Went to Furama on Spadina for post-dim sum dessert on Wed.

Not much to say other than the item on the right was labelled Pineapple Butter Cake but was really some kind of pork dumpling. Two people tasted it and were like "Eww, it's kinda salty". The cakes are okay, not that sweet.

The "pineapple" in the pineapple bun refers to the shape rather than the taste. I guess that crumbly topping resembles the diamond-like texture of a pineapple... anyway, usually those are the standard eggy bun with the crunchy, sweet topping, sometimes filled with red bean or coconut. I've never heard of it with pork - weird.

the mislabelled pineapple cake is the object on the second tray in the background. it doesn't look like a pineapple at all. it's a typical-ass chinese bakery type item.

the thing with the diamond texture on top was a red bean bun.
